Back in 2019 big massive genius Fraser Geesin put together an anthology of Ikea themed comics called KOMISK. A great idea, one of the very few times I’ve sold a comic that people knew what to make of straight away.
The collection featured work from Geesin, master of abstraction Gareth Hopkins, troubling hunk Paul Jon Milne, tantalising Tom Mortimer and some guy called Davis Allinson.
Of my two contributions to KOMISK I’m most proud of Jörmungandr, which was illustrated by the unspeakably talented Rowan Briggs.
Rowan knows more about mythology than I ever will and they executed a footery script with ease. For obvious reasons this is another project that works best when you can hold it in your hands, but if you click on the image above you’ll be able to get a better look at it.

The printed version of the strip is a little wordy for my taste (see excerpt above) but Fraser was right that the original version (below) was perhaps too oblique.
A couple of years later I revisited an idea I had originally pitched for Komisk but didn’t complete in time. Moving on from the naming convention of those previous strips, this one is called Your New Bookshelves: A Lover’s Guide.
It does what it says and was originally printed in Future Crimes #1 in 2022.
